What is ELAC?
ELAC stands for English Learner Advisory Committee. It is a family and caregiver-led school community group that helps make sure our English Learner students receive the support they need at school. In ELAC meetings, parents of English Learners and school staff work together to give advice and perspective to the principal and School Site Council. ELAC helps review programs for English Learners, monitor student progress, create parent information and communication tools, and collaborate on solutions for use of allocated school resources.
Joining ELAC is an excellent way for families of English Learner students become more involved in their children’s education. The group meets 5-6 times a year, and members have an important role in sharing ideas and making recommendations. ELAC members help improve communication between families and the school so that our English Learner students are able to learn, grow, and succeed.
